Metallographic analysis and corrosion test

Metallographic analysis is one of the important means of experimental research on metal materials. Quantitative metallographic principles are used to determine the three-dimensional spatial morphology of the alloy structure by measuring and calculating the metallographic microstructure of the two-dimensional metallographic sample grinding surface or thin film, so as to establish a quantitative relationship between alloy composition, structure, and properties. Applying the image processing system to metallographic analysis has the advantages of high precision and efficiency, which can greatly improve work efficiency.

Computer quantitative metallographic analysis is gradually becoming a powerful tool for people to analyze and study various materials, establish the quantitative relationship between the microstructure of materials and various properties, and study the transformation kinetics of materials. The computer image analysis can easily measure the area percentage, system average size, average spacing, aspect ratio, and other parameters of the features, and then determine the three-dimensional shape according to these parameters. It also establishes a relationship with the mechanical properties of materials, providing reliable data for more scientific evaluation of materials and rational use of materials. During the operation of the equipment, the use of corrosion inhibitors can slow down the corrosion of the equipment, but whether the corrosion inhibitor is suitable for the equipment itself needs to be known through experiments.

According to the experimental results, engineers can adjust the type or proportion of the corrosion inhibitor, find out problems in time, and therefore prevent major accidents. Meanwhile, engineers can master the corrosion rate of the equipment during operation, preset the service life of the equipment, making the whole system more economical and safer.
